With A Specialist
Healthcare SEO Consultant
I’m Paul Hoda, a healthcare SEO consultant helping private clinics, practices and health brands earn patient trust on Google. Search has been my trade since 2005, and healthcare is my specialism. I run each campaign.

Why Choose an Independent Healthcare SEO Consultant?
Health websites sit in the category Google calls Your Money or Your Life, where a misleading page can affect someone’s wellbeing. That raises the bar: rankings go to clinics that show real clinicians, accurate treatment information and a trustworthy patient experience. My role as a specialist SEO consultant is to build that trust into the site and turn it into booked consultations.
For a clinic or health brand, I concentrate on three things:
- Technical SEO: booking flows, treatment templates and location pages that load fast on a phone and get indexed cleanly.
- Content and on-page SEO: treatment pages written for anxious, careful patients, with named clinician authors and a visible medical review.
- Authority: genuine reviews, professional profiles and mentions on reputable health and local sites that confirm your expertise.
Practices usually stall on one of these before the others. I identify which, put it right, and grow from that base. A general overview sits in my guide to the work of an SEO consultant.
Common warning signs for clinics
- Consultation requests from Google have levelled off
- Nearby practices win the implant or aesthetics searches
- A previous marketing firm left no lasting gains
- A new site or merged clinic group could cost you rankings
- Treatment pages are missing from Google or slow on mobile
- AI answers suggest other clinics when patients ask
Any one of these is worth a closer look. Health sites are often hit hard by core updates, so if visibility fell suddenly, read about ranking drops after Google core updates.
Healthcare SEO Consultant Results You Can Verify
The figures here are lifted from Search Console accounts I have worked in, compared from the month I started. For a clinic, organic clicks matter because they are people actively researching a treatment or a practitioner.

About Paul, Healthcare SEO Consultant
I’m Paul Hoda, an independent consultant based in London and working with clinics and health businesses right across the UK. My route in was practical: repairing computers, writing code and building websites. I took up SEO in 2005, and healthcare has become the sector I know best.
That hands-on side is useful on clinic websites, which often run booking widgets, finance calculators and before-and-after galleries that slow pages down. I can trace those problems in the code and tell your web developer exactly what to change.
Since 2013 my own site has stayed on page one for crowded terms such as SEO expert and SEO consultant UK. Health is the sector most shaken by Google’s core updates, so methods that survive them matter more here than anywhere.
- 20+ years of search work
- 5.0 stars across Google reviews
- Family-run, independent practice
- +250% mean organic growth

What Does a Health SEO Consultant Do for Your Clinic?
Each healthcare campaign is shaped around your treatments, your clinicians and the patients you want more of. These are the building blocks I draw on, all delivered personally, so your fee pays for specialist work rather than a sales team.
Website SEO Audit
A clinic-by-clinic look at site health, treatment content, trust signals and links, set against the practices beating you, with fixes ordered by likely patient value.
Keyword Research & Strategy
Uncovering how patients phrase symptoms, treatments and costs, from early worries to ready-to-book searches, then giving each query a clear home on the site.
On-Page SEO
Treatment page titles, snippets, headings and links tuned so implants, physio, therapy or skin pages each answer one need with complete clarity.
Technical SEO & Load Speed
Mobile speed, Core Web Vitals, indexing, sitemaps and medical or local business schema, with many fixes coded by me rather than passed down a chain.
Content Strategy
Patient-focused briefs with clinician authorship, medical review and wording that respects ASA and CAP advertising guidance, ready for your team to approve.
Local SEO & Google Business Profile
Separate Google Business Profiles, location pages and consistent listings for each site in a clinic group, so every branch can win its own map pack.
Link Building & Digital PR
Credible mentions from health publications, professional directories and local press, gained through real expertise and never bought in bulk.
Visibility in ChatGPT & Gemini
Helping your clinic and clinicians appear as trusted sources in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews when patients ask health questions.
Core Update Recovery
Health sites are often first to feel a core update. I work out what triggered the loss and lay out a practical route back to your previous visibility.
Sectors I Help as a Health SEO Consultant
My clients are private providers who rely on patients finding them online and want one experienced specialist answerable for that pipeline. For dentists specifically, see my dental clinic SEO strategies.
Dental Surgeries
The core of my work: independent practices and dental groups chasing implant, aligner, veneer and smile makeover patients, plus a top spot in local map results.
Health Ecommerce
Supplement, wellness and medical supply stores whose product and category pages need careful claims, clean structured data and strong rankings.
Aesthetics Clinics
Aesthetic and skin clinics promoting consultations for injectables, laser and skin treatments with copy that stays inside advertising rules.
Physio, GP & Therapy Practices
Physiotherapy, private GP and mental health practices that need nearby patients to find them on Maps and trust them enough to book.
Clinic Groups & In-House Teams
Marketing leads at clinic groups who want a specialist to steer strategy, audit agency output and brief web teams without adding headcount.
Should You Hire a Health SEO Consultant or an Agency?
Plenty of agencies sell packages to clinics, and some do it well. The real questions are how well they understand medical content, who writes your treatment pages, and how much of the monthly fee reaches the work itself.
A healthcare agency may fit when
- You also need paid ads, social and design handled
- Your group wants one supplier for every channel
- There is budget for account managers and meetings
- Speed of content output matters more than depth
An independent specialist may fit when
- You want dental and health SEO knowledge from day one
- Clinical accuracy and patient trust come first
- You would rather pay for expertise than overheads
- You prefer rolling terms you can end at any time
Already paying an agency?
I can review their work as an outside adviser, checking that treatment content, local listings and reporting are genuinely moving patient numbers.
| Comparison | Paul Hoda, Health SEO Specialist | Generalist Marketing Agency | Budget Freelancer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | Paul handles your clinic directly | A junior executive once the deal is signed | Hard to tell, frequently outsourced |
| Experience | SEO since 2005, focused on health | Rarely specialised in medical content | Little grasp of YMYL or E-E-A-T |
| Communication | You speak to the expert doing the work | Questions relayed through a coordinator | Unpredictable, may stop replying |
| Contracts | Monthly rolling agreement | Typically tied in for 6 to 12 months | Job by job, no continuing plan |
| Technical SEO | Fixes booking pages, speed and indexing in code | Sent off to a separate dev team | Mostly plugin settings and templates |
| Cost | From £1,000 monthly, nothing spent on overheads | Fees inflated by staff, offices and sales | Low entry cost, risky for medical content |

How Much Does a Health SEO Consultant Cost?
In the UK, an experienced independent SEO consultant generally costs from about £1,000 to £5,000 per month, depending on how much is involved. My healthcare campaigns begin at £1,000 a month, and I confirm the figure after a free look at your clinic’s website.

My promise to your practice
- No tie-in beyond the current month
- All work stays with your clinic

Can a Health SEO Consultant Help Your Clinic Appear in ChatGPT?
Patients now type symptoms and treatment questions into ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and Google often replies with an AI Overview before showing a single clinic. For health questions these tools lean hard on sources they consider authoritative and medically sound. I cover this in more depth in my guide to AI in healthcare SEO.
So the fundamentals carry even more weight. Clear clinician credentials, reviewed content, sound structured data and mentions on respected health sites are the signals that make AI systems willing to name your practice.
Each campaign I run covers both, and I report on AI visibility next to your normal Google positions.
How I prepare clinics for AI answers
- Your practice suggested in ChatGPT and Gemini replies
- Treatment answers shaped for AI Overview citations
- Direct replies to real patient questions
- Medical and local schema AI crawlers can read
- Citations on reputable health websites
- Reporting on AI and Google visibility together

What Problems Does a Health SEO Consultant Fix?
Most health websites I audit have the same gaps. Treatment pages carry no named author, nobody can see when a clinician last checked them, and the practitioner bios that prove expertise sit three clicks away. Google has to guess who stands behind the advice, and it rarely guesses in your favour.
Wording is the other trap. Promotional copy for clinics needs to stay within ASA and CAP guidance and sit comfortably with GDC, GMC or CQC expectations, so I draft with those rules in mind, for example never naming prescription-only medicines in promotional copy, and leave final approval to your clinicians or compliance adviser. I am an SEO specialist, not a regulatory one, and I say so.
The areas I most often work on include:
- Private dental clinics
- Aesthetics clinics
- Physiotherapy practices
- Private GP services
- Mental health practices
- Health ecommerce
- Treatment pages
- Clinician author bios
- Medical review dates
- Multi-site clinic groups
- Google Business Profiles
- Patient FAQ content
How clinic projects are run
Everything is handled remotely, so nobody has to leave the surgery. You get a shared tracker, a monthly report and direct email or phone contact with me, and clinician reviews are scheduled around patient lists rather than interrupting them.
Clinic groups need extra care. Each location deserves its own Google Business Profile, its own landing page with local details and practitioners, and reviews collected for that branch, so one strong site does not cannibalise the others.

Health SEO Consultant FAQs
How much does a health SEO consultant charge?
Experienced independent consultants in the UK usually charge £1,000 to £5,000 per month. My healthcare work starts at £1,000 per month with no long contract, and I agree the final price once I have reviewed your site and the treatments you want to grow.
How long before my clinic sees more patients from Google?
Technical and Google Business Profile fixes can show within weeks. Competitive treatments such as implants or aesthetics typically need three to six months to move meaningfully, and the hardest local terms can take a year. Gains build on each other over time.
Why is SEO harder for health websites?
Google classes health as Your Money or Your Life, so it looks for stronger proof of experience, expertise and trust (E-E-A-T). That means named clinicians, accurate content, visible review dates and a solid reputation, not just keywords.
Do our clinicians need to write the content?
Not usually. I prepare the briefs and drafts, and a qualified clinician reviews them for accuracy and is credited as author or reviewer. It keeps their time commitment small while giving Google and patients the expertise they look for.
Can you make our copy compliant with advertising rules?
I write with ASA and CAP guidance and professional body expectations in mind and avoid risky claims. I am not a regulatory adviser, so final sign-off should rest with your clinicians or compliance contact, and I build that step into every plan.
Can you guarantee our clinic will rank first?
No. Google alone decides rankings, and anyone promising a guaranteed top spot should worry you. I can promise a clear plan, methods proven across many health sites and honest reporting on what has changed.
Do you work with clinic groups that have several locations?
Yes. Multi-site groups need a profile, a location page and local signals for every branch. I set up that structure so each clinic can rank in its own area without competing against its sister sites.
Do you optimise for ChatGPT and AI Overviews?
Yes, as part of every campaign. I make your treatment content clear enough to cite, keep it technically accessible and build mentions on trusted health sites. My LLM visibility service explains the approach in more depth.
What do you need from us to get started?
Access to Search Console, Analytics, your website and each Google Business Profile, plus a list of your most valuable treatments and the clinicians who can review content. That is enough for me to begin.
How do I choose the right SEO consultant for a clinic?
Look for proven healthcare results, many years of experience, real Google reviews and an understanding of YMYL content. They should talk about patient enquiries and bookings rather than traffic alone. My article on hiring an SEO expert for a clinic goes further.
Why Choose Paul as Your Health SEO Consultant?
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Clinics and health businesses around the UK already rely on me for their visibility in Google, and I would be pleased to do the same for your practice.
As a family-run business, we earn loyalty by delivering, not by locking clients in. You’ll deal with me personally, and each recommendation is judged by one test: will it bring more of the right patients through your door?
Patients judge a clinic by its website before they ever meet the team. I want yours to feel as careful and professional as your care, and to hold its place on page one.
